Luke Bryan 'More Confident' in Songs for 'Kill the Lights'

Luke Bryan has returned to songwriting for his upcoming album, Kill the Lights, and he's found a balance in the new collection that he thinks fans will love. Bryan began his career as a songwriter for other artists, including Billy Currington, for whom he wrote "Good Directions." But his recent albums have leaned heavily on contributions from outside songwriters. That's not so for Kill the Lights; Bryan recently announced the track listing for the album, which includes six songs that he co-wrote, as well as selections from some of the top writers in Nashville.

Luke Bryan Opening His Own Nashville Bar and the Name Is Touching

Country music fans looking for a good time courtesy of their favorite artist are having no trouble lately in downtown Nashville, where a crop of celebrity-themed bars have been springing up as of late. The latest Nashville star set to put his name on a venue is  American Idol's Luke Bryan. Bryan has put his stamp on Nashville’s only six-floor entertainment facility, Luke's 32 Bridge Food + Drink, which is scheduled to open this month.

One month after Jimmie Johnson's wife's parents died in an apparent murder-suicide, the NASCAR champion has taken to social media. Friday's statement is his first since the late-June tragedy in Muskogee, Okla. Dr. Jack Janway, 69, Terry "Lynn" Janway, 68, and Dalton Janway, 11, died at the Janway family home on June 26. Police said they believed Terry Janway killed her husband and her grandson before turning a gun on herself.

Gennie Shows, 99, of Humble, Texas, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at home. Gennie Shows Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Ellisville Funeral Home with burial in Mount Olive Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mark Anderson will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shows was a retired cashier and policewoman in Jackson. She was also a member of Humble United Methodist Church in Humble.
