Tornado hits Jasper, property damaged | News
Cleanup crews were busy Thursday clearing the aftermath of a tornado that touched down near Bay Springs at 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday night’s storm damage included areas along Highway 528, Highway 18 East and county roads 22, 222, 224, 1832, 23, 27, 279, 2338, 2339, 340, 9 and 62. Several homes were damaged, and a semi-trailer was reportedly overturned. Jasper County was one of several counties to receive storm damage.

Water Valley, MS is a really small town. Only about 3900 residents and only 19 miles from Oxford, so it’s a sweet little bedroom community to the bigger college town to the north. For such a small town, we have a pretty great line up of places to eat ; twelve independent restaurants, two food trucks, a brewery, a chocolate shop, and an ice cream counter inside the local drug store.
Iowa sweet corn prices up due to increased farm costs
DES MOINES – Over the past weekend farm stands around the metro started selling sweet corn. However the price per dozen has increased due increasing fertilizer, fuel, and seed costs for farmers. Farmers sell directly to farm stands and grocery stores so they don’t set the price customers see but they expect prices to be higher this year. Matt Deardorff of Deardorff Sweet Corn said that everything has been more expensive for his farm this year.
Trisha Yearwood Hosts Luncheon for Breast Cancer Survivors
Trisha Yearwood is not a breast cancer survivor herself, but she faced the painful loss of her mother in 2011 to it. Since then, the superstar has used her fame to further advocacy towards the disease.
On Monday (Sept. 16) the singer partnered with the American Cancer Society and JCPenney to host a luncheon for 14 breast cancer survivors at her Nashville-area home. Yearwood, a Food Network star and cookbook author, put together a menu to celebrate the brave women and honor her mother at the same time, while the guests shared their personal stories of diagnosing, treating and living with breast cancer.

Caitlin Clark overcame a slow start to score 34 points on Sunday, helping No. 3 Iowa outlast Nebraska for a 94-89 overtime win to capture the Big Ten Conference tournament championship in Minneapolis.
Clark had four points at halftime and missed all nine of her 3-point shot attempts before finding her groove. She scored 30 points during the second half and overtime, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining in overtime that gave the second-seeded Hawkeyes the lead for good.
