A 26-year-old Davenport man faces felony charges after Davenport Police were forwarded a case of identity theft from the Fort Wayne, Indiana, Police.
Jeffrey Stoffers faces charges of identify theft over $1,500 and under $10,000, and second-degree theft, court records say. On April 22, Stoffers acquired merchandise from Best Buy fraudulently, police say in arrest affidavits. Police say Stoffers used identification information of a victim to obtain credit through Progressive Leasing, a separate entity through Best Buy for customers to make payments on purchases.

Bettendorf commission OKs Dollar Tree on Middle Road, major Devils Glen project
In a packed meeting Wednesday night, Bettendorf’s Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed and sent recommendations to the City Council on two projects that have drawn considerable public interest.
In the first case, the commission voted to approve a developer’s plan for a Dollar Tree at 4060 Middle Road, a property that is undeveloped now. The store would have access points from both Middle Road and Woodfield Drive.
If final approval is given by the council, the store could open as soon as next fall.
Rock Island provides leaf collection
The City of Rock Island is providing leaf collection for its residential refuse customers from Monday, Oct. 16-Friday, Dec. 8, a news release says. These conditions apply:
Customers must place the leaves in approved paper yard waste bags. Customers may provide their own approved paper yard waste bags or use bags provided by the city. The bags must be placed at the normal refuse collection location on the regular refuse collection day (a separate truck will collect the leaf bags).

Davenport man with meth who rammed troopers squad sentenced
UPDATE: A Davenport man has been sentenced to serve up to 15 years in prison after police say in 2023 he had methamphetamine in his car when he struck an Iowa State Trooper’s squad and injured the trooper, court records show. Jordyn M. Puckett on Nov. 30 was sentenced to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver for a period of up to 10 years and, for a charge of assault on persons in certain occupations while displaying a weapon, was sentenced to up to five years, court records say.

Three people were found dead inside a home in Bondurant, Iowa on Thursday night.
Polk County deputies report that they received a call for a welfare check in the 9700 block of NE 88th street in Bondurant around 9:30 p.m. When they got there, they found three people dead inside the home.
The victims in this case have been identified as Mark Nicholson, 58, Charla Nicholson, 56, and Tawni Nicholson, 24.
