Sheppard wins big at Davenport Speedway

For Thanksgiving in Laurel, workers with WastePro will pick up Thursday’s garbage on Friday, Nov. 24 and Friday’s garbage will be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 25.
In Jones County, the only schedule change will be on Thanksgiving day. Customers who usually have their garbage picked up on Thursday will have their garbage picked up on Monday, Nov. 27. The billing office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Original Rocky Horror star coming to Davenport
It won’t exactly be Friday the 13th, but the week before — Oct. 6, 2023 — the newly restored Capitol Theatre in downtown Davenport will host a special 48th-anniversary screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
The 1975 cult classic will be shown in the historic 1920 theater (reopening in September after being closed 13 years) at 330 W. 3rd St., Davenport, including an appearance by the original Magenta, Patricia Quinn, who’s now 79.
Rapids City bar is finalist for nations top dive bar

The Edge Eatery & Drinkatorium in Rapids City is the only Quad Cities bar ever to make it to the final four in the competition to be recognized as the top dive bar in the United States.
